Change the water-to-grounds ratio.
For regular brewed coffee (in a drip coffee maker) the suggested ratio is two scoops (2 tablespoons) of grounds to one cup (6 ounces) of water. To make your coffee taste stronger add more grounds.
Strength numbers just describe how dark the coffee is roasted. It has nothing to do with caffeine content.

Since strength is basically the ratio of dissolved coffee solids to water in your finished drink, the easiest way to change it is to change the ratio of coffee grinds to water in your recipe. Espresso shots are the best way to go if you're looking for quick, maximum caffeinating. According to The Inertia, they contain 45-75 milligrams of caffeine per ounce, compared to drip coffee, which has just 20 milligrams per ounce.
We recommend a 17:1 water-to-coffee ratio, but you can also weigh your coffee according to the specifications of your brew method. From there, you can adjust to taste: if your coffee tastes too strong or bitter, use less coffee, and if it tastes weak or grassy, use more coffee.
